A Golden Hour Event at Sonoma Raceway

You know it’s a good event when you get to ride in a race car.

Car racing has been having a moment in my world lately. My cousin works with the McLaren F1 team, so I’ve been slowly pulled into the culture—and honestly? It’s kind of fascinating. The speed, the precision, the pageantry. And now, after actually being in a race car (yes, really!), I’m even more hooked.

But we’re not here to unpack my growing obsession with F1. We’re here to talk about how unexpectedly incredible an event at the Sonoma Raceway can be.

Sonoma Raceway added a new event space a couple years ago, and let me tell you—I was pleasantly surprised. Tucked into the rolling hills of Sonoma, it’s got that laid-back NorCal vibe but with the kind of energy that makes people feel alive. Fast cars, beautiful weather, sweeping views, and a setting sun? Yes, please. It’s such a fun and unexpected place to host a team, a company, or even a community celebration.

Add in some great food and drinks, and you’ve got the recipe for a standout experience. The evening was beautifully relaxed—sunny with a cool breeze—and the Golden Gate YPO crew came ready to celebrate.

I also have to give a shoutout to the Sonoma Raceway staff: professional, grounded, and truly warm. I was greeted at the door, cared for, and treated like a guest (even though I’m technically a vendor). That kind of hospitality always stands out to me—and makes the whole experience feel more elevated and intentional.

And last but absolutely not least: major love to one of our favorite planners, Masie of YPO, who helped style and shape the flow of the evening. Everything from guest arrivals to golden hour pacing was seamless and dialed in.
